Our
mission is to provide a premiere benefit rodeo that will support our
commitment to public safety and children through the efforts of the
Sheriff’s Equine Organizations. Through our concerted efforts, we will
provide a memorable experience for the community and its participants.
Six
years ago Sheriff Gary Penrod re-established the Sheriff’s Rodeo,
returning to San Bernardino County a long-standing tradition. Our mission is to
provide a premiere benefit rodeo that will support our commitment to
public safety and children, through the efforts of the Sheriff’s Equine
Organizations. Through our concerted efforts, we will provide a memorable
experience for the community and its participants.
Young
people throughout the Inland Empire are served by two different agencies
that instill positive values, encourage career exploration, learn
leadership skills and build self-confidence. Funding from the San
Bernardino County Sheriff's Rodeo supports Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts in
the Inland Empire.
Girl
Scouts of San Gorgonio Council will fund programs for "every girl,
everywhere", including underserved areas. Programs help girls build
character and success in the real world by developing leadership, values,
social conscience, and conviction about their own self-worth qualities
that last a lifetime.
California
Inland Empire Boy Scouts of America will fund the "Learning for
Life" Program in San Bernardino County elementary schools to teach
core values in young
people, and in other ways help them to make ethical choices throughout
their lives so they can achieve their full potential.
We
have now expanded our assistance to the community by providing
other youth oriented organizations having an interest in equestrian and
agricultural disciplines, the ability to generate additional monies
through fundraisers in rodeo ticket sales. We have chosen organizations
such as the 4-H Club (other school club activities are also eligible),
along with nonprofit clubs such as our local Gymkhana Associations.
As
we are all aware of the current state budget situation and the occurring
cuts, it is imperative to find additional funding sources for
organizations receiving state money. By employing this method of ticket
sales we are accomplishing two goals:
1.
Community awareness and
participation in a family oriented wholesome sport and an American
tradition.
2.
Raising the much-needed money to further education, while
providing our youth an environment to build self-worth and
self-confidence.
