Committee Offers Fundraising Opportunities to Non-Profits

Youth groups can raise funds through sales of rodeo tickets In an effort to expand the number of youth-oriented beneficiaries of the annual Sheriff’s PRCA Pro-Rodeo. Event organizers are offering non-profit organizations an opportunity to participate in a fundraiser that could conceivably bring thousands of dollars to the involved groups.

It’s a simple plan: Any non-profit organization that works with youth can sign up with rodeo organizers to sell tickets to the September rodeo. Seven Point, Inc., the Rodeo organizer, will return to the participating group one-third of the face value of each ticket sold. Last year, the cost of a general admission ticket was $15.

Organizations that qualify include, but are not limited to, school sports teams and academic clubs; Little Leagues; Pop Warner football clubs; and, community gymkhana associations.

Anyone interested in participating should send a letter to Seven Point, Inc. (PO Box 1281, Yucaipa, CA 92399), or use the mailroom page of the Rodeo website: www.sheriffsrodeo.org.

Since Seven Point, Inc. started the rodeo in 2000, it has donated a portion of proceeds from the annual event to the Boy Scouts of America, Inland Empire Chapter, and to the San Gorgonio Council of the Girls Scouts, USA.

The theme of the rodeo is “Cherish the Gift, Our Children.” It has always been Seven Point Inc.’s desire to use the rodeo as a way to benefit the county’s youth. This year, directors felt the need to extend some sort of benefit to viable groups outside the scouting organizations.

“We obviously feel strongly about the value of scouting, but we also know that scouting isn’t for everyone. We want to help any group whose main mission is to help the young people in our community,” Bob Fonzi, Seven Point Inc.’s executive director, said. “We see this as a great opportunity to bring that about.”
